Secretary of Labor, holds the highest position ever by a Chinese Americans. Other officials include
Jack C. Chow holds the rank of Ambassador during his tenure of service as Special Representative of the Secretary of State for HIV/AIDS. Dr. Chow will also continues his service as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for International Health and Science issues in the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental Scientific Affairs. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, a Master's from the University of California at Berkeley, a M.D. from the University of California at San Francisco, and a M.P.A. from Harvard University and a M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.
David S. C. Chu is the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, Department of Defense, responsible for recruitment, career development, pay and benefits for 1.4 million active duty military personnel, 1.3 million Guard and Reserve personnel and 680,000 Department of Defense civilians and for overseeing the state of military readiness. Dr. Chu earlier served in government as the Director and then Assistant Secretary of Defense (Program Analysis and Evaluation) from May 1981 to January 1993. Dr. Chu received a Bachelor of Arts Degree, magna cum laude, in Economics and Mathematics from Yale University and a Doctorate in Economics, also from Yale.
Dr. Margaret S.Y. Chu is the Director of the Department of Energy's Office of Civilian Radioactive Waste Management. She is responsible for advising the Secretary of Energy and the President on issues surrounding the ongoing scientific research and licensing of the Nation's first permanent geologic repository for spent nuclear fuel and high-level radioactive waste. Dr. Chu received her bachelor's degree from Purdue University and a doctorate degree in physical chemistry from the University of Minnesota.
Michael Minoru Fawn Liu assumed his duties as the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Assistant Secretary for Public and Indian Housing (PIH). Mr. Liu received his bachelor's degree from Stanford University, and is a graduate of the University of Hawaii's Richardson School of Law.
Samuel T. Mok is the Chief Financial Officer at the Department of Labor. Mr. Mok served as managing member of Condor Consulting, LLC, a strategic management consulting company advising clients with business interests in East Asia. Mok was CEO at GL Associates.
Chiling Tong is the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Asian and the Pacific, Department of Commerce. Prior to this position, she worked as an advisor on Asian issues and policy at the California Employment Development Department and the Director of the Trade & Commerce Agency in Taiwan where she was responsible for promoting California's economic development, trade and employment services. In addition, she has also worked as a television anchor and reporter for China TV in Los Angeles where she reported on international trade and investment. Ms. Tong received a BA from the Chinese Cultural University in Taiwan and a MBA from California State University Long Beach.
Marina Tse is the Acting Director, Office of English Language Acquisition, Language Enhancement, and Academic Achievement for Limited English Proficient Students, Department of Education Tse, who is a Taiwanese immigrant and has been teaching English as a second language for more than two decades in the Los Angeles area
Benjamin H. Wu is the Deputy Under Secretary for Technology at the U.S. Department of Commerce. He works along side Under Secretary Phillip J. Bond to support Commerce Secretary Don Evans in developing science and technology policies to maximize technology's contribution to America's economic growth. Mr. Wu received a Bachelor of Arts from New York University in 1985 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh.
Jeremy Wu is the Energy Department's director of civil rights. Wu served as ombudsman for the Department of Energy appointed by former Secretary of Energy Bill Richardson.
