Jiangsu Association held its first annual luncheon in celebration of the year of horse at Lee Wing Wah restaurant in Chinatown Square, Chicago, on March 24. Some sixty people attended. Dr. Tze-chung Li, president of the association, welcomed the participants, introduced the staff, and presented a certificate of honorary board member to Mr. Wei Ruixing, Chinese Consul-General in Chicago. Dr. William Sha, Dr. Harry Kiang, Dr. Ming Wang, and Mr. David T. Hou reported their invention, the forthcoming conference of the Federation of Chinese American Associations, basics of preventing high blood pressure and diabetes, and the forthcoming nation-wide conference of the unification of China respectively. New board directors elected include Ms. Huiyang Bao, Ms. Cathy T. Hou, Dr.Glenn Y.S. Ma, and Dr. Xingwu Wang. Dr. Shuen Mei volunteered to develop a web for the association..
Kiangsu (Kiangsu), one of the provinces of China, on the Southeastern of China, is almost entirely low-lying, with many lakes and canals. It was part of the ancient state of Wu, Yueh, and Ch'u before it was annexed during the Qin dynasty (211-206 BC). It has a population of over 67 million on an area of 39,600 square miles. Shanghai is located in the southeaster part of the province.
