The 2002 first board meeting of the Federation of Mid-American Chinese Academic Organizations was held in Morton Grove, Illinois on February 17. Dr. Harry Chiang, founding president, resigned due to poor health. The first president, Dr. Ke-lin Y. Kilburn succeeded him as president. The Federation's major event will be banquet and entertainment on May 5, 2002 in Chicago China town to welcome the mayor of Lincolnwood, Mr. Peter Moy.
The Federation founded in 2001 aims at recognizing academic achievements of Chinese Americans. It consists of several non-profit organizations, including Institute of China Studies, Association for China's Promotion, Mid-America Music Organization, The Li Educational Foundation, Chinese Opera Association in Chicago, Chinese Cultural Renaissance Association Mid-America Chapter, Historical Facts about WWII Chicago Chapter, and Xin-lin Foundation.
Membership is open to both organizations and individuals.
