American LLM degrees will be awarded to Chinese students in Beijing


Diplomas of LL.M degree will be awarded to fourteen Chinese lawyers on January 10 at the State Intellectual Property Training Center in Beijing. In pursuance of an agreement between the State Intellectual Property Office and The John Marshall Law School, Chinese lawyers studied law at the Center including two courses, "Introduction to American Law and Legal System" and "Legal Research and Writing", taught by Professor Kevin Hopkins of The John Marshall Law School. After they successfully completed the courses in China, they studied at The John Marshall Law School for the remaining courses for a LL.M. degree. On January 8, representatives of the law school, Robert Gilbert Johnston, dean, and Dorothy Li, director of libraries, will travel to Beijing to hand them their diplomas. The John Marshall Law School is one of the law schools which have a large number of Chinese students. Some twenty-five Chinese students enrolled at the law school last semester. In Beijing, The John Marshall Law School will sign a cooperative program with the East China University of Politics and Law in Shanghai on January 14.
