Ngawang Choephel, 38, Tibetan scholar, taught as Fulbright scholar at the Middlebury College in Vermont. He was jailed in 1995 after he returned to Tibet. Behind the bar, he developed bronchitis and was released on medical parol. He flown back to Detroit on January 20. John Kamm, president of Dui Hua Foundation and a human rights activist, announced his release.
