Ameri-China International pays fines

Ameri-China International, Inc. and its president, Austin Wu, were charged for violation of safety rules by the Consumer Products Safety Commission. The company, based in Los Angeles, imported 755,000 toys that violated federal law. The federal law requires that toys intended for children younger than 3 years old cannot have small parts and must be tested rigorously to assure toy will not break into small pieces if damaged. More than 70 percent of all imported toys come through the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. Ameri-China International and Austin Wu agreed to pay $140,000 fines to settle the case.
