The numerous advertisements in World Journal have made Queens the city of matchmakers. Nearly 5,000 web sites are listed in Yahoo.com. There are matchmakers for Hispanics, Koreans, Indians, Arabs, and others, but Chinese matchmaking business is dominant. According to Sarah Kershaw (New York Times, March 2), business is thriving for the matchmakers. As Chinese immigrants pour into Flushing, Queens, New York, "there is always a fresh crop of single and divorced souls seeking husbands, wives and companions in a daunting new home." Ying Cheng Lee, a matchmaker, claimed matchmaking 1,000 marriages in 22 years. The Good Luck Marriage Hot-line has registered 1,000 people, said Fang Wang. The fee for matchmaking service ranges from $100 to $500 per person, paid until marriage.
