The Chinese American Service League (CASL) Associate Board has named its officers for 2002 and has expressed thanks to its outgoing officers for their efforts in the last year. The 2002 officers are Eileen Chin, Chair; Jeff Sriver, Vice-Chair and Sara Zhou Eng, Secretary. CASL Staff Liaison to the Associate Board. Composed entirely of young professionals, mostly in their 20s and 30s, the CASL Associate Board plays a unique role in the CASL family. The Associate Board seeks to further the goals and ideals of the Chinese American Service League by organizing and promoting volunteer work in the community, coordinating and participating in fund-raising and benefit activities, and stimulating awareness of CASL throughout the Chicago area and in adjacent Midwestern states. In 2002, the CASL Associate Board will hold its annual Benefit Social Event at Rock Bottom Brewery and Restaurant One West Grand Avenue, Chicago Second Floor, State Room on Friday, May 31, in celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. The Associate Board's annual youth camping trip will take place in June and involve high school-age students from Chicago's Chinatown and nearby communities. Later this year, just before Thanksgiving, the Associate Board will also help to coordinate the annual "Friends for a Smile" food drive program, through which free groceries are delivered to elderly residents in Chinatown. Other CASL Associate Board activities in 2002 will include participation in the CASL Annual Corporate Dinner, as well as support with the annual Lakeside Bank 5K Run/Walk for Charity to benefit CASL and other CASL initiatives. The Associate Board is actively seeking new members. For further information, contact Jeannie Woo at (312) 791-0418.
