In two days, Chinese Community celebrated Asian/Pacific Month of Heritage in Chinatown Square, Chicago, on May 18-19. The May 18 event, Chinese Cultural Festival, was sponsored by Chinese American Association of Greater Chicago. Performances included Chinese Kung-fu, folk dance, folk songs, opera, and music. Also on the square, pictures and arts were exhibited and other organizations provided free health advisory service and demonstration of Chinese painting and calligraphy. The May 19 activities sponsored by the Chinese Community Center of Chicago consisted of parade, singing, folk dance, music, and martial arts. A number of organizations participated in the event including Northwest Suburban Chinese Schools, Jia Jia Li - Chinese Dance Group, Kung Fu Federation, and other Asian ethnic groups.
