OCAW honored families with children from China


The Organization of Chinese American Women (OCAW) and the Families with Children from China (FCC) jointly sponsored a "meet and greet" picnic at the National Zoo on May 4, in Washington , D.C. This year, FCC Capital Area are recognized for their achievements and on-going support families who have and will have adopted children from China. Ruby G. Moy, President of OCAW, said, "these children are Chinese American leaders in the future." The award was presented to FCC on Sunday, May 5 at OCAW's annual Mother's Day and Awards Dinner held at the China Garden Restaurant in Rosslyn, Virginia. This year's events coincide with the observance of the Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month.

OCAW was founded in 1977. Each year, OCAW sponsors Presidential Scholarships to middle school girls in rural China, development of an educational model for newly arrived immigrant women, computer training for women in transition, and Opera International.
