The construction of a new Chinese American Service League (CASL) on the Southeast corner of Tan Court and South Princeton avenue is schedule in November and will be completed in the fall of 2003. The 9.15 million project will be a three-story, 37,500 square-foot building. The new center will house five of the League's social and family service agencies, including facilities for the League's Child Development Center, accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and a center for employment, job and chef training services, and an Elderly Service Center. CASL has an annual operating budget of 5.7 million. (Source: "New Chinatown center to rise" by Jeanette Almanda, The Chicago Tribune, Oct. 27, 2002).
