Early this year, the Chinese American Service League Associate Board held its annual fund raiser at Rock Bottom Brewery. Funds raised from that event helped support the Youth Camping Trip in June. Members of the Associate Board, along with CASL staff, took CASL's junior high aged children on a weekend camping trip. In addition, the Associate Board was able to sponsor the CASL Dragon Boat during the Chinatown Dragon Boat races in August. The Associate Board is now focused on two programs, the Friends for a Smile Program and the CASL Youth Holiday Program. The Friends for a Smile Program is geared towards the senior citizens living in Chicago's Chinatown. Each year, the Associate Board solicits both in-kind and monetary donations so that we can deliver goody bags filled with food and personal hygiene items to approximately 600 senior citizens in 350 apartments- including the CASL Senior Housing Building. This event will take place on Saturday, November 23rd. The CASL Youth Holiday Project is new. The Associate Board decided to solicit in-kind and/or monetary donations for approximately 350 children ages 0-12.
