OCA-Chicago annual dinner on October 19


The Organization of Chinese Americans, Inc., Greater Chicago Chapter (OCA-Chicago) will host its 2002 Annual Dinner Gala Benefit featuring invited guest speaker Gene Lee, Deputy Chief of Staff, Office of the Mayor, City of Chicago, on Saturday, October 19, 2002 at Furama Restaurant, 4936 North Broadway Avenue, Chicago, with a 6 p.m. cocktail reception; 7 p.m. dinner, keynote address, and music and dancing following. "Our Annual Dinner Gala Benefit is an event which helps OCA carry on the good work and projects it is involved in all year long," said Don Villar, president of OCA-Chicago. Keynote speaker Gene Lee is a veteran of over twenty years of public service to the citizens of Chicago. A long-time leader in Chicago's Chinatown neighborhood and Asian Pacific American community, Lee has been an athletic director, basketball coach, organizer of traditional lion/dragon dance groups, and a sports tournament promoter for the Chinese Dragon's Athletic Association. He is also director of the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association; board member of the Illinois Chinese American Residence for the Elderly; and a member of the Chinatown American Legion Post 1003.
