Yo-Yo Ma: American innovator with a single moment of inspiration


In an article published in Reader's Digest (Aug. 2002), Yo-Yo Ma told Robert F. Howe, author of the article, that there's lot that can't be taught. Said Ma, I realized that perfection is not the goal of a performance. You can have something that you really want to share through the music. The goal is not perfection, but expression. My approach to music has been changed in a fundamental way. I began looking at the whole of the music, not just the notes.
