The Chinese American Service League (CASL) will host a Community Carnival and Benefit as part of its year-long 25th Anniversary Celebration this Saturday, August 16, 2003, at Chinatown Square (South China Place, Archer Creek intersection), from noon to 4 p.m. in Chicago's Chinatown. The afternoon of summer fun will include live performances on the main stage surrounded by more than twenty-five fun-filled booths. The opening celebration begins at 12 noon, complete with firecrackers and traditional Chinese lion dance. That will be followed by presentations, speeches, sing -a-long, chorus and folk dances. Event- goers will also be treated to a variety of Chinese Tai Chi demonstrations, pop and folk singing, solos and band performances. More than twenty-four booths surrounding the main stage will feature street vendors, games and community service activities. CASL will also host its Eighth Annual Charity Golf Outing at Klein Creek Golf Club on Tuesday, September 9, 2003 in Winfield, Illinois. Lunch is at 11:30 a.m., with shogun start at 12 p.m. A wide range of event sponsors will come together for golf, refreshments, dinner buffet and an awards dinner. (Irene Cualoping)
