The Asian American / Asian Research Institute CUNY starts webcasting to assist affiliates programs, clubs and organizations from across the twenty campuses of the City University of New York to make their presences known to one another via the Internet. In October 2002, the Institute introduced streaming videos of its Friday Evening Lecture Series, Faculty and Staff Reception, and Annual Banquet, providing visitors to its website the ability to view events they may have missed, due to scheduling conflicts or traveling difficulties. On January 10th, 2003, the Institute went up a notch on the technological ladder and introduced live webcasting of its events, allowing visitors to our website the ability to interact with, and ask questions of presenters via email, or telephone in real time.
Since the introduction of streaming videos and live webcasts to its website, the Institute has more than tripled its number of visitors, and attracting viewers who cannot be physically present at some programs. The archival of events also allows them to be reviewed later on by interested individuals.
