On February 1, 2003, Saturday, Chinatown will welcome the Lunar New Year of the Ram, 4701, with Chinatown New Year's Parade which will take place on Wentworth Avenue, Chinatown's main street. The parade will feature a 100 feet long mystical Chinese Dragon, brought to life by young performers. The Dragon is a symbol of good luck to all. Other participants include Miss Chinatown and her court, floats, marching bands and groups along with visiting dignitaries and community leaders. Amidst the disc of fireworks, drums, gongs and cymbals, the traditional Chinese Lions, another symbol of Chinese New Year will also make its appearance. These traditional Chinese Lions will be in the parade and will be pausing to dance in front of each merchants doorway to bring the blessing of a prosperous New Year.
