Chinese American Librarians Association will not hold its annual meeting in Toronto in June

Reports Sally Tseng, executive Director of CALA May 14, after hearing from some members that their institutions will not approve their requests to travel to Toronto and/or that their families will not permit them to travel there, and suggestions from many people that CALA's activities in Toronto should be postponed. Ms Tseng further states that CALA Board found out that the majority could not attend CALA' activities in Toronto due to budget cuts, the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and various other reasons. The CALA Board decided to postpone all of CALA's June 2003 Toronto activities (Meetings, Program, Awards Banquet to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of CALA) to June 2004 in Orlando, Florida during the 2004 ALA Annual Conference.
