Children's Museum of Manhattan in New York will celebrate the Year of Monkey

Childrenšs Museum of Manhattan (CMOM), New York, in partnership with the China Institute and the Asia Society will celebrate the Asian Year of the Monkey (2004) with a dynamic, interactive exhibition, Monkey King: A Journey to China. A full schedule of creative workshops, programs and performances that will share the rich and varied culture and traditions of China with all families will enhance the exhibition. CMOM is looking for approximately 12 Chinese-speaking people (adults as well as children who are old enough to state their ideas clearly) to interview on film. Portions of these interviews will appear in the exhibition to help give an American audience greater insight into the meaning of the Monkey King story for Chinese people. Interviewees will be asked about the story, how they first learned it, what it means to them and what the story tells people about China. Interviewees mus be familiar with the story of Journey to the West and have spent the majority of their lives in China.
