The Chicago Public Library sponsors the fourth Chicago book festival in October. A highlight of this year's Festival is the One Book, One Chicago program. One Book, One Chicago encourages all Chicagoans to read the same book at the same time to create a citywide book club. The festival is a month long event including a series of author appearance and book signing at libraries, bookstores and other locations across Chicago. Maxine Hong Kingston is among the 19 authors to appear at the Chicago Public Library Harold Washington Library Center on Thursday, October 2, 6 p.m. Kingston, acclaimed author of The Woman Warrior, will discuss and sign her new book, The Fifth Book of Peace, a brilliant hybrid of memoir and fiction. The event is co-sponsored by Women and Children First Bookstore.
