Chiense American Librarians Association (CALA) California Chapter will hold its annual conference and banquet dinner on Saturday, November 15. This year's theme is Enhancing Library and Information Access: Implementations at the California State Library, the Library of Congress, and in China. Main speakers are Dr. Kevin Starr, California State Librarian, on "California State Library: its mission and efforts in support of preservation and dissemination of the heritages of California and its commitment to the highest ideals of library and information services;" Dr. Hwa-Wei Lee, Chief of Asian Division, Library of Congress, on "Building a World-Class Asian Collection in the Library of Congress for Enhanced Information Access"; and Xiwen Zhang, Librarian, California State University San Bernardino, on "Overview of the China Digital Library Development". The program introduces resources and major projects at the California State Library, the Library of Congress, and at digital libraries in China. Our goal is to introduce these resources for California librarians in order to provide better library and information services for users.
