The FedEx TV ad featuring two Chinese actors viewed by some Chinese Americans is offensive to Chinese Americans. Writes Guy M. Wang, these two actors purport to be speaking Chinese, with the older man swearing in half Cantonese and half rubbish and the younger actor speaking pure rubbish language, but what they utter is simply indecipherable rubbish. That ad is extremely demeaning, it creates a negative image of the Asian people. Just because the actors themselves may be Asians does not lessen the offensiveness of the ad. There are many ways to advertise about FedEx Asian delivery services and it does not have to be offensive. Mr. Wang will send a letter of complaint to Mr. Smith at 942 South Shady Grove Road, Memphis, TN 38120 and urges other people who dislike the ad to write letters of complaint too.
