APHAFIC annual meeting May 7


The Association for Preserving Historical Accuracy of Foreign Invasion in China (APHAFIC) Annual meeting will be held on Sunday afternoon, May 7, at San Diego Carmel Valley Branch Library, San Diego, California. The guest speaker is Peter Li who will speak on "Enduring legacy of Irs Chang."

Iris Chang is the first to write about the Nanjing Massacre.

Professor Peter Li, born in Nanjing, China, raised and educated in the United States, Peter Li received his B.A. from the University of Washington and Ph.D. in Chinese Literature from the University of Chicago. He is Professor Emeritus of Asian Studies and Comparative Literature at Rutgers University where he taught for 30 years. Formerly Director of the Committee on Asian Studies at Rutgers, he has combined a life of teaching and scholarship with his interest in Asian American education. He is the author of numerous books and articles on various topics related to Asia. Some of his recent books include Japanese War Crimes, The Anatomy of Tiananmen Square, and Understanding Asian Americans. He is the founding president of the New Jersey Alliance for Learning and Preserving the History of WWII in Asia (NJ-ALPHA). Since retirement, he has resettled in Oakland, CA with his wife Marjorie and continues to write and campaign for historical justice.
