Global signature campaign and product boycott against Japan progress report released


The Global Alliance for Preserving the History of WW II in Asia released a progress report on the global signature campaingn and product boycott against Japan in a press conference in San Francisco April 14.

Since the global signature campaign started 6 weeks ago, the response from the international community, especially inside of China, has been extremely successful. As of early this morning, the total number of signers has exceeded 35.9 million and continues to grow. More than 360 websites, two major wireless networks in China, and more than 1,000 newspapers reported the event.

The Global Alliance and its international campaign partners will move forward the drive against Japan's UN bid into a new phase by providing targets, information and guidance to launch a focused boycott to deliver a clear message through economic pressure to encourage Japan to reverse its stubbornly held position, acknowledge its past atrocious misdeeds, come to term with its historical responsibility, and stop denial and distortion of history.
The recent passage of SB684 in California Senate Committee on Education was discussed at the press conference. The legislation that will require all school district s in the state to enhance the 7-12 grades teaching materials and instructions of WW II history in Asia.
