Dr. Yihong Xia, 34, dired of cancer on August 6. Dr. Xia, born in Kiangsu, China, a brilliant scholar, had been assistant professor of finance at Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, since 2000. She received a BA degree from Fudan in 1992, M.A., Emory University in 1996, and Ph.D. University of California Los Angeles in 2000. Her research interest included asset allocation and portfolio choice theory; bayesian learning; international finance; imperfect information in capital market.
Dr. Xia worked before in the Swana Bank Ltd., Shanghai Branch, 1993. She received a number of awards, including Career and Recent Professional Awards; Teaching Awards, Rodney L. White Center Research Grant, 2000-2003, Wharton; Allstate Dissertation Fellowship, 1999-2000, University of California, Los Angeles; Graduate School Doctoral Fellowship, 1996-2000, University of California, Los Angeles.
