Reports on Asian Pacific American civil rights

United States Commission on Civil Rights, compiled by Gabriel J. Chin, Professor of Law at University of Arizona, was published by William S. Hein. The work consists of three parts: reports on the police, reports on voting, and reports on Asian Pacific Americans. Its third part is a 4-volume set, outlining the Commission's investigations into discrimination of Asian Pacific Americans. The Commission's knowledge of these groups put it in a position to challenge the "Model Minority" stereotype of the successful Oriental, which obscured the poverty, and educational challenges experienced by some groups, along with employment discrimination.

For nearly 50 years the U.S. Commission on civil rights has been charged with investigation and reporting facts, and formulating policy recommendation to ensure the protection of citizen rights. Since its creaion through an Act of Congress in 1957, the Commission has investigated far-ranging allegations of discrimination. Hearings have focused on voting, education, justice/police and employment and housing.
