Saint Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Because of its association with the Chinese Hospital and location close to Chinatown, the hospital has a strong relationship with the Asian American community.
For generations, Dr. Justin Quock, an oncology specialist, and his father, Dr. Collin Quock, an internist, have provided a compelling connection between Saint Francis and S.F.'s Chinese community. Collin, the first cardiologist to practice in Chinatown, was for many years a member of the hospital board of trustees. His father, Poy Chong Quock, sat on the first board of directors of the Chinese Hospital in 1925. (Source: Jeff Fox, AsianWeek, Dec 9, 2005).
