Celebration of Chinese Culture and Heritage in Ann Arbor, Michigan


On January 19 (Wed), 7:00 pm, ,Dr. Sui Wah Chan will talk about the origins of the Chinese writing system at the Ann Arbor District Library main library downtown.

On January 22 (Sat) 1:00 - 2:00 pm Chinese Culture and Heritage for the Lunar Year of Rooster will be celebrated at the Northeast Branch Library, Plymouth Road, Ann Arbor.Students of the Ann Arbor Chinese Center of Michigan and Ann Arbor Chinese Dancing School will perform traditional Chinese dances, kung fu (martial arts) skills, and spectacular Chinese Yo-Yo stunts. IMDiversity.com Asian American Village contributing editor Frances Kai-Hwa Wang will share some of her favorite Lunar New Year stories and songs. Carol Stepanchuk of Folk Art International will present The Beanie Baby Zodiac Play, an interactive rhyming play about the Chinese Zodiac. Chinese art and handicrafts will also be on display.
