rights/education organization, elected Ginny Gong to an unprecedented 3rd term as its National
President. Gong campaigned on a platform of change and a commitment to elevate the 30+ year
old organization to another level of operation. In her campaign speech, Gong stated, "We are
uniquely positioned to be the premier grassroots Asian American organization. With our dual
national and local structure, we can address national issues and monitor federal legislation while
serving as a facilitating force in responding to local concerns...OCA is at a crossroads in its
emergence. It is critical that we move forward strategically and identify ways in which OCA
will remain a significant force in shaping the face of America."
Gong served as OCA's National President for two terms in 1993 and 1994 after rising up the
ranks from Chapter President to National Treasurer to National VP for Chapter Development.
