Chinese American Veterans Memorial dedicated

A Chinese American veterans Memorial was dedicated on June 12, 2005 in Chicago southside Chinatown. An estimated 200 people, including officials of the City of Chicago, the City Council, and the American Legion, and local developers and Chinese American community leaders, attended the dedication

Madame Anna Chennault, widow of General Claire Chennault, commander of the famed U.S. "Flying Tigers" in China during World War II, was the keynote speaker at the dedication.

The Chinese American Veteran Memorial Committee and Chinatown Post 1003 are currently raising funds to engrave the names of Chinese American veterans on the Memorial and complete the project.
