Wuxi delegation visited Chicago


A Wuxi delegation led by Mayor Zhang Jinxian visited Chicago and held a breakfast program jointly sponsored by the World Trade Center Chicago and the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, and Wuxi City Investment Promotion Office. The program on October 25 at the Mid America Club in Chicago. Over 100 business men and professionals attended.

The program features trade and investment opportunities with stress on automobiles and automobile parts industries.

Wuxi, some 180 km West of Shanghai, has a population of 4/425 million with US$6,382 per capita. It is one of China's 15 economic centers, one of China's 10 most dynamic cities in economy, China's 8fh favorite commercial city granted by Forbes, ranked 8th of 2005 China's mainland's top 10 cities in comprehensive competitiveness, and listed number fifteen of China's 25 cities with strongest growth potential by UN.

58 foreign companies from 11 nations listed in Fortune 500 have invested in Wuxi. Japan is the largest with28 company investment, such as Toyota, Mitsubushi, Hitachi,

Sumitomo and Kawasho. USA follows with investment of 7 companies including GE, Pfizer, McDonald's Eastman Kodak, and Dupont.

The delegation includes Mr. Zhang Jinxian, Mayor of Wuxi, Mr. Zhong Xichang, President of Wuxi Automobile Industry Association, and Mr. Wang Weiliang, Vice President of Wuxi Weifu Group.
