The US is considering selling some 443 missiles, worth $421 million, to Taiwan to boost the island's defense against China, Taiwan press reported.
At Taiwan's request, the Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), a branch of the US Department of Defence, has notified the US Congress of the possible sales to Taiwan, the Central News Agency (CNA) reported.
The Taiwan parliament is still debating if it should pass the arms purchase budget, citing the high cost and late delivery. Meanwhile, Taiwan is also seeking to buy 66 F16C/D warplanes to fill the gap in air defense until Taiwan has introduced its third generation warplanes. (Source: IndianMuslims.info, Mar 1, 2007)..
