In an article, "The Educated Giant" (New York Times, May 28, 2007), Nicholas D. Kristof suggested that instead of putting up trade barriers to respond to China's trade surplus, the United States should boost its education. One reason that China may take over the U.S. as the world most important country is that "China pus more effort into building human capital than we do."
Kristof gives reasons that why Chinese students do well. Chinese students are hungry in learning. China has an enormous cultural respect for education. Chinese believe that the best students are the hardest workers.
