Chinese restaurant owner sued for fraud

A group of Chinese immigrants have filed a lawsuit in the Superior Court of Los Angeles County against a restaurant in Hacienda Heights, Calif., and its Chinese American owner for false advertising and fraud. The lawsuit alleges that the restaurant and its owner advertised sushi chef classes and promised employment at the restaurant after the classes were completed.

After the plaintiffs paid tuition of $4,000 to $5,000 for the classes, the restaurant owner failed to provide classes or training, required them to perform free labor, and repeatedly sought further payments from the plaintiffs, all without hiring plaintiffs to work at the restaurant.
