2 Chinese Americans rescued in Kenting

One hour later, at noon, the rent-a-scooter operator reported the two women missing. A police helicopter spotted the pair 3.5 miles off the beach in Kenting, southern Taiwan, at 2:40 p.m. Both were pulled to the chopper that carried them back ashore. Both women were hospitalized briefly. However, for failure to get a coach to ride with them, Hsieh Yue-ming, 37, and Lu Jui-shih, 32., were each fined NT$5,000.
