West New York shop owner accused of pirating and counterfeiting DVDs and CDs

Daoyi Huang, 35, of Queens, was arrested Friday at Sirena's Gift Shop, 5113 Bergenline Ave., where investigators seized counterfeit movies and music valued at more than $50,000, Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said.
"Not only did Huang manufacture very high quality DVDs but they included recent releases including the most recent 'Karate Kid,' and he also produced a large number of let us say triple X rated DVDs," DeFazio said.

Investigators learned that Huang was selling illegally reproduced movies in bulk to others who would resell them throughout the area, DeFazio said. Undercover detectives were then able to infiltrate the operation and make purchases directly from Huang, DeFazio said.

Huang is being held at the Hudson County jail in Kearny on $100,000 bail, cash or bond, jail officials said today.Pirating is the more serious charge and carries a possible sentence of three to five years in prison. (Source: NJ.com, Aug 3, 2010
