Dominican University awards Tze-chung Li an honorary doctoral degree

Dominican University awarded Dr. Tze-chung Li the degree of Doctor of Humane Letters Honoris Causa at the commencement on May 8, 2010 in recognition of his contributions and achievements in librarianship. Sr. Jean Murray, former Dominican University President, read the citation, Lily Li, board trustee, put hood on Dr. Li, and President Donna Carroll presented the award certificate to Dr. Li. The citation mentioned Dr. Li's long teaching career including Dean of the Graduate School of Library and Information Science and serving as Judge, Examination Yuan Commissioner and Director of the National Central Library in Taiwan.

Sally Tseng, Honorary Executive Director of the chinese American Librarians Association points out, among Li's numerous accomplishments, the founding of the Chinese American Librarians Association was one of his notable achievements. His tireless effort in promoting library education and Chinese American librarianship has won him great honors, including the Dominican University Elise O. and Philip D. Sang Award for Excellence in Teaching, and the CALA Distinguished Service Award. He is an educator, scholar, lawyer, writer and Dean and Professor Emeritus of the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at Dominican University.
