It has two sections: (1) essays including fifteen short articles on Asian ethnic groups and Asian
American subjects. (2) Dictionary containing some 800 entries arranged in alphabetical order.
The dictionary (over 500 pages) covers a wide range of topics, including events, persons, places,
and concepts. The majority of the entries "center on the historical experiences of persons of
Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Asian Indian, and Filipino ancestry" (Preface). There are three
appendixes: Select Bibliography; Chronology of Asian American History; and 1980
Census Data.
